It normally takes around 21 days once the account has been marked as "in query" and during that time, you won't be affected by whatever was previously showing on your credit file.
Thanks

Dear David
can you please help. Our BT sports was paid last year and brought to balance. However it’s still showing on the credit file at missed payment.
I had no idea this was still the case. We ve just been informed if this isn’t rectified we will lose the house and mortgage which would be a awful.
can someone please contact me.
many thanks
AFAIK you have to raise a dispute with Equifax if you believe its incorrect. They usually then raise it to BT on your behalf, rather than you raising it to BT.
To dispute the default on your credit file you will need to contact Equifax directly and they will liaise with BT to get this removed from your file if there has been a mistake.
Hi @Woodend,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting. The information @Keith_Beddoe has posted is correct. You would need to contact Equifax. Equifax will then mark your credit file as 'in query', so there's no further impact on your credit file until the query's resolved.
Equifax will then contact BT's Equifax disputes team and they'll work on your behalf to resolve the issue.

Have you contacted Equifax as suggested as that is your way forward
