I'm in the same boat, I took out two separate contracts which promised a speaker. The first one took months and months to come and I was on holiday when it arrived, the postman left it in my green bin and my neighbour put the bins out. I did contact bt but was told I had left it too late (I was on holiday, it had been months and I had no warning it was coming). I thought I'd have to accept that but at least I had another one coming. When that didn't arrive I contacted bt via chat and was told I'd have it within 10 working days, 2 week later I decided to phone and was given a reference number & told to phone the dept that sends them out & there shouldn't be a problem. Phoned them who told me that my handset didn't qualify (I have the reference no screenshot & email telling me it did), I contacted customer services again & am still waiting for a call back. I think you have the right idea & while I have extra time I will contact the ombudsman. This was before xmas, the speakers were intended for my sons for xmas and I took them into account when choosing the right deal so don't see why I have to stick to my end of the deal when bt don't. They are con artists in hiding & I wot be renewing with them because of this & other payments issues that they can't seem to honour!
Unfortunately its not going to be possible at this time, for the forum moderators to investigate these promotions, as they are dealing with priority welfare escalations only.
All you can do is to ring BT, when the situation improves.
I totally understand with what's going on and priorities have to be moved to more urgent cases.
But come Tuesday I will be taking this further.
Sadly this is happening all too often for the majority of big companies and not just BT. Put out a good offer to catch you then shaft you and they expect you to just take it.
My first complaint was closed without my consent and the second is still no where near a resolution. I just get the same excuse each time I contact them, its is on the next batch of orders and has been since December.
As long as they get paid each month they do not care. It is a simple as that.
