I have all my contacts but when composing an email, I used to be able to just key in the first couple of letters and I would be given options of email addresses to choose from. Now that does niot happen. I have to find the email address and copy it and paste it in - very time consuming!
I have moved your post onto its own thread because asking a question on the thread you had posted on just gets lost in the quagmire and makes answering specific problems difficult.
What you are doing when you just type in the first few letters of an email address is using the "Auto Complete" function. You are not using the list of contacts stored in your Contacts folder.
In order to use the "Auto Complete" it must first be populated. Unfortunately your previous auto complete addresses were unable to be carried over when your email account was migrated from BTYahoo onto the "new" BTMail system. This means that you have to now re-populate the auto complete list.
You should kame sure that in the settings, which can be found by clicking on your user name at the right hand side, you go to "Mail" then tick the box "Auto Save New Contacts" and then in click on "Contacts" in the list below "Mail" and tick the box "Enable Contacts Auto Complete"
This should then start to populate your auto complete list when you receive emails and reply to them.
Thanks for creating a new thread as I must admit I kept clicking the BT Community emails to find nothing new.
I have completed all you mentioned, quit out of BT Mail and reopened but unfortunately, no change – still have to copy and paste email addresses, but thanks for trying.
I too have tried getting my contacts list and are now using the auto save. However, it has migrated some very old contacts which then completely confuses me. Dire stuff BT Mail. Are you reading any of these threads.

When you were using your email account if you were not actually creating and adding your "new" contacts to the contacts folder it means that you have been unknowingly relying on the contacts being stored in the Auto Complete folder.
If that is what you were doing, the Auto Complete folder is the only place they were stored and because the Auto Complete folder was not migrated that will be why none of your recent contacts are showing.
The contacts that were migrated were only the ones that were stored in your Contacts folder. It is probably the case that the older ones that are there are ones which you added to the folder some time ago.
If there are "old" contacts that you no longer want you should click on the "Contacts" button on the menu. This will bring up your stored contacts and you can select the ones you no longer want and delete them.
I would believe you but the contacts do come up when I use btmail on either my mobile or my iPad!
thanks for taking the time to reply.

That is because you are no doubt using an email client/app on those devices and the contacts have been saved on the devices contacts app.
If you use a web browser and log onto the email account in the same way as you do when using a computer are the contacts there?
Thanks for the tip and you are right!
One wet afternoon I will copy my contacts in. Thanks for replying
You should be able to "export" your contacts from your phone's contacts app into a file and then transfer the file to your computer where you can then "import" the file into BTMail.
You could do all that on your phone without the need to transfer a file onto your computer but it might be easier to work with on your computer.
