Many thanks, PaddyB. You solved my problem that had been frustrating me for months.

I tried clicking on "Mark as accepted solution", but couldn't get it to work, perhaps because I'm just not familiar with the workings of the forum.

In case anyone else has the same problem, here's the solution that worked for me.

Click on "I'm the account holder" and follow the instructions.

Btw, off-topic, or perhaps not. I don't know what's changed, but most of the BT site is greyed out in Firefox. It seems Mozilla are slowly destroying what was once a useful browser. I'm using Chromium here because Firefox gets worse with every update.
