Re: New mail "upgrade" - some more problems not on BT's response

Unbelievably bad.
Searches don't find stuff that one can see is there.
A limit of 10 attachments when sending mail, no matter how small they are.
Mail Sent doesn't arrive, but there's no error message to say it wasn't sent.
I could go on, but is there any point. I'm paying £7.50 a month for a mail system that is the worst. Time to move to a free, reliable and well featured email service, there's plenty out there

Re: New mail "upgrade" - some more problems not on BT's response

Well BT and its "Upgrade" of the email system has hit even more lows. Despite the plethora of failures and no improvements, I have now begun (particularly over the past three months) to experience further problems.

  1. When viewing an email and then returning to the Inbox, the system often logs out altogether.
  2. After viewing an email and trying to return to the Inbox it goes into a loop and I have to log out to clear it. Then I have to log back in again.
  3. When writing an email, the system automatically closes. I not only have to log-in again but the draft of what I was writing isn't saved.

The above aren't an infrequent activity but occur very frequently, maybe 10 times per day. There are too many faults with this system to list, and if this topic is researched through its entirety, a lot, not all, are listed.

I have been threatening to write to the CEO of BT but I have been unable to do so recently owing to medical reasons. That is now solved and so I will write directly to him and also bring it to the attention of the media. I know others in the Community have done similarly with no success but it might make me feel better. I did actually write to the CEO on an issue when BT and Yahoo separated and I did get a quick response from the BT, email design team in the NE. It's pretty obvious that no one from BT reads these comments or they would have acted upon them, would they?????

I have been using BT for my email, phone, et al for twenty years and to change to my other email address is so difficult owing to the myriad contacts already established using this email address or I would therefore ditch it today. I am looking into the best way to do this, not that BT are in the slightest bit interested.

It might be worth starting a petition for BT to stop using that name. In the past British signified something of quality to be proud of. BT implies this similarity but falls so far short it is untrue!

My rant is now over and I will get on with my day!

Regards to all

Re: New mail "upgrade" - some more problems not on BT's response

The mail system itself is perfectly fine, it is just the webmail front end that is dire. There is absolutely no need to use that, just install a proper mail client and serenity will return. There are many free ones to choose from such as Mozilla Thunderbird, EmClient, Claws Mail, Blue Mail etc etc. Windows 10 also has a ready built in mail app.

That might suit you, but I want webmail!  I don't want to download the messages to an email client.  As webmail is available, it should be made to work properly, not cause customers (emphasise customers) to not use it.

Why do you want webmail? A mail client is designed for email, a web browser is designed for web pages. Most people are happy using a mail app on their smartphones, why not a mail client on a PC/laptop?

Webmail does work properly in a browser... as long as it's Gmail, Yahoo mail, Outlook etc. etc.    It's only BT's that isn't for for purpose.

I already did, see above, where I say "I don't want to download the messages to an email client" and don't ask me why not.  It's a matter of personal choice.

Out of interest, do you use mobile devices such as a phone or tablet to access your email and if so what do you use to do that?
