I have contacted BT about this more than once and have been told that I must use Web mail. It seems that if web mail is working there is nothing wrong with their servers, I was told the Mail, Spark and other mail providers are no longer supported by BT internet. However - web mail would be fine if the broadband was consistent - but in rural areas this is just not the case. What an appalling state of affairs, Spark organised email in a way that is so much better than BT web mail - and I am irritated by the advertisements that litter the server on the web and seem to be irremovable .
You are not forced to use webmail at all, when BT say they don't support mail clients it means that are unable to give advice not that you can't use them.
You are not forced to use webmail. For years client access has suffered problems which can be overcome by preventing your mail client attempting to connect to the server, changing your password in webmail, waiting at least an hour and then attempting to connect with your mail client using the new password.
Sadly I tried that It did not work
Very occasionally that doesn't work and it requires the mods to intervene to get the password to sync between servers, I will alert them to your problem. They are very busy at the moment so might be a few days before they can assist, they will post an invite on this thread.
Thank you. I have just managed to send an email via outlook using my gmail address - but I would really like to get back to using Spark - or even Mail. I have had the btinternet address for over 20 years - so do not really want to have to change it.
Hi @Valwha,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting. I'm sorry you're having problems with your BT email. If you send me in your details, I'll take a look at this for you.
I have sent you a private message with instructions on how to contact me. You can access your messages via the envelope icon at the top right of the screen, or click on this link, Private messages
Thanks
PaddyB
In my original case in this trail I proved by tethering to 4G that it was not the fault of my email client and only my home broadband connection. The network/server team then did something and it has worked fine ever since.
Just be persistent with them.
Thank you MAW 1
A moderator has contacted me - so - fingers crossed!!!
