Re: Slow broadband downstream line speed and noise on line

Go to solution

I wonder if you could help me too, I found this older thread via a goole search.

My broadband has always been about 3Mps, previously with SKY (connect package) but was heavily throttled at peak times so i went to BT, now it seems I'm being throttled at 1Mps permanently.

Can you help me decipher this data and give me pointers as to how to improve my speed back to 3Mps.

thanks.

(BTW 17070 option 2 test passed ok, no noise on line)

You should be connecting at about 2976Kbs.

This actually looks like a fixed 1Mb service.

So frustrating,

FAQ

The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider.

John,

There is plenty of margin, I would say that its been incorrectly commissioned. There is no way we can check this.

I done the ASDL test via the main socket and it was 2.5MB, then I replaced the plate and plugged the router back in and this is now what I get, this is what I'd expect to get, so I'm puzzled but happy, does this data seem ok to you guys ??

much better looks like an internal wiring error possible a poor contact from the test socket to the front plate but that connection looks much better and does not need the care teams help now not sure if Keith has any ideas on  what  the problem may have been

That looks better, so its not a fixed rate service, it was just odd that it was exactly 1MB before.

How long have you been connected to BT Broadband?

Probably just a bad connection. Is it possible to keep your home hub plugged it at the master sockrt location?
