Re: SmartHub not suitable for Ultrafast 2

Go to solution

Hello,

I recently got FTTP with the UltraFast Fiber 2 Plus Package with the Smart Hub 2, and my upload is 30-32Mbps instead of 50Mbps. I'm just wondering if this is the same issue with the Smart Hub 2.

They sorted it for me via firmware upgrade after contacting the fibre team they got the Devs to access my router and change a few inner settings. Definitely a problem why almost a year on BT are still not fixing the issue unless the customer asks them too.

I have a smarthub it gives me 310/48 (I'm very happy with 48) and is really stable.

I'm on a wired connection to my PC though.

That's what I get though the hub and if I connect my third party router I get 327/52, take it that little extra is because it doesn't reserve a bit of bandwidth for the hotspots like the hub does.

Thanks Dave859, I spoke to the FTTP Team, and she confirmed my serial number, and said she passed it on to the team that deal with it, and said it should be fixed Monday. I am also using a wired connection.

The BT FTTP Team called me, they said its only an issue with the Smart Hub 1 and not the Smart Hub 2. They said they checked all the settings and they were fine. But there is clearly an issue, wondering what the next steps are from here?

Could be because open reach don't have you on the 330/50 profile. In my case I was sent out a new fttp hub which didn't fix the issue but after a few phone calls they said it would be 50 in a few hours. The odd bit is a few weeks later I plugged the old router in and the speed test was 330/50, that leads me to believe they didn't do anything to the router and just made changes to the line it self.

So I called BT and they are saying 30Mbps is fine, and that its irrelivant that its fiber to the premises, and that they dont garuntee the upload speeds. Honestly dont know what to do, they dont seem to understand that if its FTTP, it should be 50Mbps upload.

Wouldn't put up with that, your fttp line is probably fully capable of 1000/1000. Ultra fast 2 speed will vary for customers on g.fast but fttp customers should be getting the full 330/50.
