Re: Strange problem with broadband. Speed very low.



I have had the same problem for aeound 18 months now!


I have spoken to and emailed BT numerous times only to be fobbed off. I checked my download speed with and received a speed of 0.07, yes 0.07Meg. I was told by BT that they only recognise their own speed test results.


Today as my internet is running so slow I decided to try theirs. After three times of trying to load the page, as it's so slow it said 0.7Meg is the best I can hope for, and I was getting 0.46Meg. I honestly do not believe BTs results as I have tried to load various websites this morning, youtube being one and it wouldn't load at all as my connection is so slow.


I have no choice where I live (countryside) to go with anyone other than BT for my broadband.


I am totally fed up of em!!!


They go on and on about super fast infintity, however won't help anyone with poor broadband speed.


I am using a homehub 3, only have one phone socket in the house. Anyone got any thoughts?


Maybe complaining on here kight help??? I doubt it!

I have moved your post to start your own subject as the other was marked as solved and this way you will get more replies

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) bt speedtester and post the results .

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
