I’m a BT customer and have a Talk21/yahoo account which is my main email. I received an email this morning telling me I would no longer have access to my emails unless I went through a process. I called BT and they suggested It was a scam and to be disregard it. Within a couple of hours I had no email and so felt I had to use the contact given. The person was based in Liverpool and was very helpful in getting me up and running again but here are my thoughts on the matter.
1. I was given only a few hours prior warning - making me suspicious - and just not good enough.
2. So suspicious I sent it to my MP and Councillor.
3. Obviously this transfer was not common knowledge and shared throughout the company thus giving different advice.
4. Lastly - it had better be legit so can someone def. confirm for me?

Do you still have the email?
Can you check that the email address it came from was definitely sent from BT. You can see the originating email address by hovering your mouse over the visible email address.
When you received the email, did you click on any links and or follow the process it described?
