Re: Upload speed terrible

Hi,

I have similar problems. I too had a lot of work going on in my house so had the router reset a few times. People don't seem to realise what a 0.5mb upload does when you have 20 down. The moment you send an email, download something, it takes out the internet for everyone else in the house, completely. One thing I did try is take the faceplate off my socket and went straight to master socket which gave me 5-6 meg more download. But did nothing to my upload which seems odd.

Do you think BT would be willing to trial me on ADSL 2 and see if that improves my upload?

Re: Upload speed terrible

Very odd..before my upload speed went down there had been a lot of work going on between me and cabinet about 500 Metres up the road and the download speed also dropped by 6-7 mb/s. But after leaving the router untouched for 3-4 days download went back to normal!
I also have various historical speed tests where upload is at 5-6 Mb/s. My parents are currently struggling to send emails etc..and my sister needs to upload work for her university course...the engineers don't have a clue what to do they leave no notes for the next engineer and seem reluctant to rake it any further. You would of thought they could pass it on to a more specialised team who could look into the issue more. From my experience of the last 5 engineer visits it seems they deal with very basic technical problems and want to get out and go ASAP when encountering problems that go above their head

Re: Upload speed terrible

Still no joy with my broadband upload and I am really suffering with work now when trying to use Microsoft Lync

Nobody at BT  can or will answer my question: Why have I enjoyed 5-6Meg and recently it drops to a consistent 0.7M

And it appears some neighbours have also experienced this.

I registered a complaint nobody has contacted me

And the follwing image from the website shows what i should get (im on BT Infinity Unlimited)

Re: Upload speed terrible

After 2 months and 7 engineers mine is now sorted...well for the time being anyway!
It seems it's just dropping on with the right engineer. After making contact with the mods on here Michelle who contacted me sent out the last engineer and the engineer did the same things as the other 6 have but when stumped by the cause of the problem he made several phone calls and seemed to take an Interest in the issue so eventually he went up to the cabinet after all tests at the house passed and after spending 40 minutes at the cabinet with 2 other engineers who I believe he called as they has more expertise with cabinet issues one of them reset the line and card and speed went back up to 5mb/s
So very happy so far. I've been told to keep an eye on the upload as something called rain (possibly spelt different ) can interfere with your upload speed which is usually caused by neighbours CCTV cameras etc...so if upload goes down again this could be a cause! As a stated earlier it seems to be a case of finding a good engineer as unfortunately for me 1 out of 7 seemed to know what he was doing and didn't just close the case as an underground issue as I found out 6 of the engineers had done. The problem with this been that as tests were passing at the house and showing no faults on the line an underground team wouldn't even consider looking at my case! The top and bottom seems to be terrible communication with in the company as several engineers agreed with me and said I didn't needs to tell them

Re: Upload speed terrible

My upload has gone down a little in the last few weeks from 2.90 to 1.50 but I was told it was something to do with the cabs being worked on G.INP or something like that and you will have to wait for the new update to roll out for the HH5a. Like the other chappy said they would not restrict your upload at all and I have heard that there is not such a thing as dlm anymore on an FTTC line so its not that, you cant blame your dlm anymore. Maybe it might correct itself in time, just wait a while. I have learned now just to leave your equipment alone, don't play around with it at all it will just make it alot worse, trust me!!! 😉

Please click on white star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. 🙂 Thank you. Some handy links Copy & Paste:-
