cannot send emails - error 553, since new BT email update this week

I have the same problem and have been trying to fix it all day. Online chat absolutely no help and I've been given a phone number. It was all fine yesterday. Today I can't send emails from BT webmail or my phone. This is a nightmare because I now can't communicate with my elderly parents who are both deaf and dealing with a crisis because one of them has just come out of hospital. I was with them for three weeks and now I can't keep in touch. Thanks BT!!!!! Why now???????

To get you over the immediate problem of inability to contact elderly parents, just create a Gmail address and use that until BT email problem is resolved.

Have you tried clearing your browser cookies and cache, have you tried a different browser.

Yes I've done all of that. And I do have a gmail account but that is not the point. I want to know what BT have done that has made my webmail which worked perfectly at 9.30am this morning be broken since then when I have done nothing.
