Re: connecting new home hub 6 to printer

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I'm logged in and there is no button to click for starting a new topic.  (?!)

I've just moved in to a new home and on BT - in my previous home I was with subsidiary Plusnet.

No matter what I try to do/setup/reinstall/update on my Laserjet Pro MFP M175N it refuses to believe that we have moved and when I print out Network settings it clearly shows it nostalgically linked (or trying to link) to my ASUS hub with Plusnet 255 miles away.

I tried manually telling it about the BT hub (which is about 8ft away...), like its IP address.  But then it asked me for:

'Subnet Mask' (whaa??)  I accepted what the printer had already, viz 255 255 255 000

'Default Gateway' I again accepted what was already there, 192 168 001 001.

Are these correct for my BT Hub?  I went onto its page via its IP and I couldn't see any of these referred to.  Mind you, I didn't want to rummage away too much in case I upset something.

How on earth can I get my printer to see sense and acknowledge that we've moved and it must talk to and play nicely with the BT hub?

Re: connecting new home hub 6 to printer

Carry out a factory reset of the printer and set it up as though it was a first time install.

You should also make sure you turn off "smart setup" on the Smarthub.

See link how to do that.

Re: connecting new home hub 6 to printer

I turned off Smart Setup and input the IP address, etc. manually to the printer.  Should everything, printer, hub, laptop be all turned on and off again to make the Hub see this errant printer?

No.

Have you set the IP address of the printer as well as the gateway and subnet mask? Set the printer IP address as 192.168.1.20

I already found those pages, and have tried all the variety of steps listed.  No joy.
