Recently I have moved into a new property (Fenwick Street York YO231JR). The internet connection is currently copper only, to get fibre I need to follow suite what the other houses have down the street have done and get FTTP installed.
After numerous discussion with the FTTP team they have stated it is not available for my house. I am rather confused by this, given I live in a terraced house and my neighbours all have FTTP (I can see the Open reach box on the side of their house).
I have done a lot of daggering to gather some information.
I am on the same cabinet (105) as all my neighbours.
My neighbours can all place fibre orders (via the BT website), so it seems it not a cabinet availability issue. Even house 11 can place an order and this has been derelict for years!
I work from home so this is a huge issue for me.
I initially thought it was a database issue (openreach) however after filling out there online form numerous times I just get a generic response back saying they are looking into getting fibre in my area (by March 2018!).
Is there anybody out there that could give me some information as to why my house can’t get the FTTP installed? From the investigation work I have done I can’t seem to find a reason why… I have tried ringing the FTTP numerous times but it seems they are just going by the same information as me and basically saying there isn’t anything they can do (potentially an openreach issue).
Would be grateful If anyone working for BT could respond.
I suspect it's an Openreach records issue.
The FTTP team should be able to get Openreach to investigate given that other houses on the street has FTTP availability.
I would escalate the issue to the FTTP team manager.
However, be aware that it could be down to the fact you're served by a different DP (distribution point) and there's no FTTP kit to your DP.
It was assumed that you were already a BT Retail customer when you posted here on this BT Retail forum.
BT Retail have nothing to do with Openreach, who are a separate company within the BT group.
Openreach would not do anything unless they have a order from a Service Provider like BT Retail. They do not provide fibre on the offchance someone will place an order.
I would suggest you place a firm order with BT Retail, and see how that progresses.
Do you have a working BT Retail phone line, or do you get your phone service from a different provider?
My number is **Edited** - I am with talk talk, is this what you after?
