@PaddyB could you do the same for me please?
for some reason my download speed has halved in the last week too. It’s usually about 30 but it’s sitting between 9 and 17 at the moment.
Hi @James3793,
If you've seen your download speed halved it likely there is something else affecting your connection. The best thing to do is to start your own thread and please include your router stats. It would be great is you could include a ping plotter one while gaming by itself and another while gaming and streaming?
Thanks
PaddyB
Hi Paddy,
I am experiencing the streaming ping issues as well so wanted that looked at if possible. The speed issue is new.
What do I need to do once I’ve downloaded ping plotter? Sorry, I’ve never used it before.
The changes made to my line by Bt last year seem to work for several months now it's back with a vengeance!
In the last couple of weeks at times I've had ping of over a 1000!
I've contacted the people I've dealt with in the past about the issue hopefully I'll hear back from them
Does anyone have any guidance on how to use Ping Plotter?
ping google.com with and without streaming, take screenshots after it had run for a bit.
Honestly all just a waste of time. Commented on this thread a long time ago to the point of where I forgot it even existed until I checked my spam folder and saw annoying thread updates. The ping spikes have been going on for over a year.
Especially with lockdown going on, it's pathetic for me to load up an online game just to have it be miserably ruined, all times of the day, by ping spikes and loss that takes me to 100-150ms. No fault of my own, it doesn't matter whether it's just me on the internet or not. 80/20 fiber and I can be using 1mbit of that 80 down and virtually none of the up and have spikes from 20-30 ping in games to 150. Not dumb, I don't have some device hogging the Wi-Fi in the house. Yes I have my own router, but that's not why either. It did the exact same **bleep** with the BT router. At this point it's obviously something wrong on BT's side and I doubt it'll actually be properly acknowledged, not like I could call and have someone speak to me about it either. What're they gonna do, send an engineer for a cost to do nothing?
Sucks that there's an exit fee and that severely pathetic ping probably isnt a good enough reason to BT to leave, as long as I'm getting my shown download/up speed I guess BT don't care what ping you have? Did try to sell a different superfast package though, which is also misleading. Just bundles in more TV BS. Can't be bothered to put up with the ping issues and will probably just switch over to another ISP soon in hopes that it'll fix the issue. Never had the ping issue with any other ISPs.
Would be perfectly happy with BT if it wasn't for this fatal flaw
I used PP to show my ping while gaming and when my girlfriend is using Netflix downstairs.
Could you possibly look into this for me?
James is this with your XR500?
No this is with my BT Hub. I was using the XR300 which actually helped with the issue for a while but randomly it stopped helping even after playing with the QOS settings.
I’ve been having some speed issues for the last two weeks, download speed has halved. I’ve got an engineer coming Friday so figured I would just leave the BT hub plugged in to keep it simple.
