Reconnect to wifi network which was previously "forgotten"

Go to solution

Hoping someone can help with this problem I'm having with my BTHH6.  I've split the network into two; 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.  Each has its own SSID.  For some reason I'm struggling to remember, I "forgot" the 2.4Ghz network on my daughters iPhone 6.  However, I now want her to be able to connect to it to allow her to use some Amazon Echo accessories (via her iPhone) which only work on 2.4 Ghz wifi.  So, the problem is that I am unable to manually reconnect the iPhone to the 2.4Ghz wifi, it comes back saying "network not found".  I've done the "reset networks settings" on the iPhone but still no luck.  The iPhone (and Echo) can see and connect to the 5Ghz wifi no problem.  I'm thinking the BTHH6 is blocking the connection to 2.4Ghz somehow, so am assuming I'll need to reset the hub.  Any help would be much appreciated, Rgds, Andy

Welcome to this user forum.

A factory reset of the home hub, usually sorts it out.

Factory reset your home hub

Thanks Keith. Can I speed up the recovery by taking a backup of my conf settings and then reapplying them after the reset, or will that defeat the purpose?

On the older home hubs, the user config backup saved all of the configuratioin file, including any old stored settings, so restoring them did not help.

I am not sure about the HH6, all you can do is to try.

Hi Keith. Just to close this off. I did the factory reset and I can now connect the iPhone to the hub. As expected, I’ve lost the Wi-fi split but that’s easy to reinstate if needed. Main thing is that the iPhone and echo are now both on a network that can connect to 2.4Ghz echo compatible components. Thanks for all your answers!

Excellent Smiley Happy

It will probably work for a while until the home hub ARP table fills up, and the problem may return. Its a problem with all of the home hubs, which is why the hepdesk always suggest a factory reset.
