Hmmm...I didn't know that. (But then there's a lot I don't know about webmail, email clients, IMAP, sync-ing etc -- which will be pretty obvious by now!)

First, are you (that is, RobbieMac, moderator) a BT employee?
Second, whether an employee or no, do you have a direct link to the email team? And if so, how do we get to hear of their response and planned corrective action?
As I said earlier, thanks to this "upgrade", I now have over 1800 emails to/from personal contacts that I'm entirely unable to reach. That is wholly unacceptable, and I'm looking for a speedy resolution.
Nothing to report my end Im afraid. I am still unable to access three folders containing circa 100 emails. BT did say Friday (tomorrow) when I reported the problem on Tuesday.

Yes, he is. The only BT employees are the mods.

I very much doubt you will hear any response or plan of action until such time as it is implemented. Any response will be on the appropriate thread of the forum.

That is not strictly true, you have a workaround that will enable you to access them.

You're right. But I have yet to explore Thunderbird.
Besides, why am I required to adopt a workaround (via an email client) to remedy such a poor webmail implementation? BT Yahoo webmail worked OK for me, and provided all the function I needed. It's as though the BT email team had never thought to check that valid BT Yahoo folder names might not work with BT Mail. If I'd done that as an IT guy (which I was in a previous incarnation) responsible for designing and implementing a system migration, I'd have been on the sharp end of a P45.

That's promising. Did they say how they would do it? For example, will they simply make # a valid character, or scrap the character check altogether?

You are not required to adopt a workaround. It was only suggested to try and assist you short term so that you could access and use your emails until such times as BT resolve the problem. It is entirely your choice.
Don't get me wrong - I'm grateful for your suggestion. However, until BT fix my problem (assuming they do), I have no way, using BT Mail, to access those folders. That's why I say I'm required to adopt a workaround.

Well, I hope they do mine as well! Not to mention those of other users who happen to have created folder names using what are now deemed to be invalid characters:
Folder name cannot contain invalid characters: / < > # & * %, and not begin with {
And if they simply delete the #, I might easily end up with duplicate folder names. Then what?
