Reporting Problems with Overground Cables on Poles

A number of houses where I live have their phone lines carried on poles.  The cables pass close to and through branches of trees and several of the cables are likely to be damaged very soon as some are being dragged down by the weight of the branches.

Is there a way of reporting this to BT such that they can possibly take proactive steps to avoid the problem rather than waiting for the lines to break as they have done previously?

The fault reporting problem goes via a line check which won't fail.

Thanks.

hi open reach are responsible for the network not BT Retail and as it is a problem with trees it is the tree owners responsibility to keep them trimmed not openreach's they cannot just go round trimming trees

Re: Reporting Problems with Overground Cables on Poles

To whom it may concern,

There are cables laying on the verge and near the road out side Hoses Hall, Carters Hill, Halstead, Essex CO9 4LZ (address taken from Google). They have been there a while now and even though we have seen a BT van there, they did nothing and no one has returned months later!

This is dangerous to the public whether in cars, tractor or on a horse rider as the roads are narrow extremly narrow here .

The line has pulled away from the pole on the oposite side of the road.

Please can this be repaired

Kind regards

Re: Reporting Problems with Overground Cables on Poles

Welcome to the customer to customer BT retail forum.  The cables you are referring to are the responsibility of Openreach and not BT Retail and can be contacted as described here https://www.openreach.co.uk/orpg/home/contactus/tellussomething/tellus.do
