Good afternoon/evening All,
I noticed back in September that my download and uploads speeds were no where close to what they had been previously. Instead of the average of around 60-65 Mbs Download and 15-17 Mbs Upload, I was getting around 28 Mbs Dowload and 2 Mbs Upload. BT sent out an engineer and after a Dynamic Line Management/Port reset everything was back to normal. I happened to check my speed this weekend and my speed is down again, now it is 15 Mbs Download and 3 Mbs Upload.
Is there a way to request a reset? Nothing has been changed anywhere and I imagine it is the same issue again...
Thank you!
Alastair
Sound to me like the DLM is doing its job and reducing your speed to manage noise on the line.
If DLM is still intervening, the engineer didn't fix the underlying fault. Until that is cleared there is no point in resetting DLM as it will just continue to do its job and reduce your speed again. You need to get another engineer visit.
Hi Gary,
Thanks for the reply, the enginneer did check for noise on the line and didnt find any issues before he reset everything...I think I vaguely remember there is a number you can call to check for noise on the line?
Thanks,
Alastair
17070 to check for audible noise, however, the noise may not be at audible frequencies.
Hi Licquorice,
Thank you, I will have a listen and keep an eye on it, but probably aim to get an engineer out again from what you are saying...
Thanks,
Alastair
Any audible noise is usually indicative of a bad joint or corrosion on the line which will affect broadband speeds. Broadband can also be affected by interference (noise) at non-audible frequencies.
Hi @ajsmcintosh,
Have you tried the line test as suggested by @licquorice? If you getting any audible noise post back and I can take a look at your connection and run a few checks on your line.
Thanks

Hi @ajsmcintosh,
Thank you for taking the time to post back. I'm glad to hear they've identified a fault. Please keep us update and let us know how the repair goes?
Thanks
