Reset Latency type back to fast please

Go to solution

I thought the DLM would reset the latency type back to fast. But it hasn't. I don't get much noise on my line.

Could I get the latency type reseted to fast please.

I would imagine the drop to 3dB noise margin has introduced CRC errors, so DLM has changed latency to Interleaved, so that forward error correction (FEC)  is applied. All lines have some errors, and FEC can correct many of these without affecting performance.

I think your line will perorm badly if interleaving is taken off, and re-transmissions will cause lots of throughput issues.

Why would you want the latency set to fast?

Wanted it changed to fast as I play online games a lot.

The downstream noise margin has always been 3dB. I live within a mile of the exchange.

Reading through previous threads on the topic of noise margins, default is normally 6dB and the higher the noise margin goes, the more interference is on the line. What does it mean if it drops?

Hi @monkeyidiot

Welcome to the forum and thanks for your post!

I can help change the connection from interleaved back to fast path.  The issue, as @Keith_Beddoe has pointed out, may well be due to the lower 3DB noise margin.

We will need to take a closer look at this to get a better understanding of what's going on.  Click on my username here >> RobbieMac << and you'll see our contact link on the left hand side underneath my profile picture.

Cheers,

Hi John,
Been fast for about 48 hours now. Seems to be fine. Latency has dropped by around 25ms.
And no sign of packet loss at 3dB.

Thanks very much.
