Reset Target SNR Margin

Hi all,

Recently my target SNR margin has increased from around 3dB to 13dB, resulting in me losing a large proportion of my download speed. I previously used to connected at around 7500-7600kbps downstream and the connection would be rock solid, mainting sync for weeks on end.

The target SNR jumped up a couple of weeks ago, and I am now consistently connecting at 4544kbps downstream, which gives a SNR of around 12-13dB. Weirdly, it's as though the DLM is forcing me to connect at a constant sync rate rather than a specific SNR margin. Anyway, the connection seems very stable and I have not lost sync once and I believe that since my line has coped well with lower SNR margins in the past that a reset wouldn't do any harm and should bring back some of the speed I previously had. I should point out I am on ADSL2+ too.

Are the mods able to request a reset of the target SNR or to restart the line training? I am connected to the master socket with a filtered faceplate so have eliminated all potential wiring interference issues.

Thanks

Re: Reset Target SNR Margin

to get noise margin to jump to 13db there must have been/still is a noise problem on your line.  were you getting drops in connection or were your resetting to get speed back or both?

Re: Reset Target SNR Margin

No drops in connection, I restarted the router a couple of times to try and get the speed back which I guess may have made things worse possibly?

Re: Reset Target SNR Margin

restarting the router a few time will certainly not helped get your noise margin down and in fact may result in it increasing.  the noise margin should reduce automatically but you need a stable connection for 7/10 days - not shown that time looking at stats

Re: Reset Target SNR Margin

your attenuation suggests a maximum speed of 5.9mb you must ensure a stable connection for the next 7/10 days the connection time must be shown on the routers stats not just the number of days you have the router turned on
