Return our kit?

Our contract just ended, so having received an email, I “upgraded” to exactly what we are on now, but for less money (go figure), nothing changed.  Today I received a bag to “return out kit” - I didn’t buy a new hub, since I don’t use the BT one anyway, so why am I receiving this? Welcome to have it as it’s ancient and useless, but why send this? I can only assume it’s auto generated, but if the intention is to save the environment as stated, seems a bit of a waste to send me a plastic bag that I have no use for!! Anyone else had this?

You have answered your own question as regards it being an auto generated procedure. This happens when you end your contract, which is what you did when you "upgraded". You don't "upgrade" you start a new minimum term contract.
