Returning old box - two different answers.. (BT Ultra HD)

Go to solution

Hello everyone,

I've just spoken on Twitter to the BTCare team, basicly asking if I need to return my old box when order the new Ultra HD box. Their responce was this:

hmm.PNG

Perfect I thought, until I ordred the new package and was hit with this message:

Anyone got any ideas?

(*Edit* Just seen another thread saying we can keep it, I'd just like to confirm.)

Cheers,

Dave

See: https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/upgrade-to-UHD-box-can-we-definitely-keep-our-old-box-Defi...

I suggest you just ignore and see what happens. Ypu'll probably get some "you need to return your kit" emails as well.

We have been told we can keep our existing boxes.

Thanks for the reply, I've sent the picture back to BT and I'll post what they say.

I'm just worried as they've tried to charge me £255, for the vision box (pff like it's worth that...)

Thanks.

Ah - we were told we could keep our 'old' YouView box. Not sure about Vision box. Would assume it would be the same.

Personally I'd let them have an old 'Bt Vision' box back for all the use they are!

I've got both youview and BT Vision! I was using it as an extra box, but ever since BT have released the new 4K box, it's been telling me that I cannot use the box; even know I have an extra box subscription.

I think that it's time that I kill off the vision box anyway haha!

The definitive answer is this :
If you have gad the box in contract for over one year then it is yours.
If not then you must return it or be charged.
BT will recycle the old box in accordance with the EU directive if you return it.

Actually that isn't what SeanD stated at:

https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-Boxes/upgrade-to-UHD-box-can-we-definitely-keep-our-old-box-Defi...

"I am happy to confirm that you are able to keep your existing box if you have upgraded to the new Ultra HD box.  This is irrespective of whether you are currently in contract or not.  If you are not going to use the box and would like it recycled, please send it back to BT.  We provided you with a returns pack so that you can send your old box back to BT for free, this was included in the delivery of the new Ultra HD box, however this is your choice."

Although whether this applies to Bt Vision boxes I don't know. I suggest you ask on that forum just in case!

Hi Dave,

you can still use the old BT Vision black box as normal , i have my old one at my mums and she has sky, dont need the net for it either, works as a freeview recorder.

THe BT Youview box you have, how long have you had it? if it is more than a year, it is yours.

cheers
