Just a follow up on this for anyone it may concern. Seems that it must be have been the faceplate, I have been using a Microfilter in test socket and seem to be having no more of the issue discussed above. Not actually installed a new faceplate yet as it's fell down the list of things I have to do. but seems the problem is sorted. 👍
