Hi,
I have got these stats below for the first time since getting rid of my openreach box for good and connecting direct to the Home Hub 5 and I was wondering if someone could please give me a run down on the statistics on what I should be getting speed wise with data rates, max rates and line stats etc... cause tbh I don't really know how they work in relation to my connection. Thank you Img. below:
Can you put your telephone number into http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome and post the results (after removing your telephone number) ?
I was not asking for my estimates I was asking what the results meant in terms of my speeds, Data rate, Max rate, Lne Stats etc.., the estimates on my telephone number are irrelevant.
My profuse apologies........I obviously misunderstood your post.......I was under the impression that you wanted to know "on what I should be getting speed wise" and it is normal to request the information from the telephone checker in order to assess whether your connection is good, bad, or indifferent but as you feel that "the estimates on my telephone number are irrelevant", I cannot see how the forum members can help you.......... Perhaps there are members on here that are pshychic and would be able to help you further.......Good luck in finding one !
According to your stats the max data download rate for your line is 24Mbps so you will get slightly below that in order to have a stable connection. Your stats are showing that you are getting a download speed of 19.7Mbps. Your noise margins are slightly off the optimum of 6 so the speed could possibly slightly improve if any errors on your line stopped.
As shirts has said, it is difficult to say if this is within the estimated speed range for your line that BT say you should get without you posting the information requested.
Thanks for the reply. So will I see it go back upto 24 cause at the moment it hovers around 19.7 but does not seem to go up anymore above that figure which it has been at 24.2MB for months on end now but I sore a drop when I queried BT about my speeds of starting a new contract all of a sudden and I was wondering if my line was capped around that figure by BT because of this? Thankyou for the run down and also sorry you say the noise margins are slightly of the optimum of 6, what do you mean?, is that good or not?, why should they read 6.0/6.2 to be stable and not 5.5/6.2
Optimum noise margins are 6.0/6.0
Thanks so anything in 6.0/6.0 is good
Well, the target margin at sync time is 6 and the sync speed negotiated is based on that target.
However throughout the day, the noise margin varies as the noise increases and decreases.
The best thing to do is to keep a record of the noise margin so you can see if there's a pattern.
There are several utilities available to record the stats including the noise margin and to produce graphs for analysis.
