Hello BT Community,
I'm getting **bleep** off with this annoying phone calls from this number 01630 410442, 01630 410445, 01630 410440. There's more numbers coming through to my landline the area code it the same but the last 2 digits of the number change each and every day.
I've already reported the numbers back to BT using their 'Report a Scam Call' website, and already registered with the TPS service I am NOT paying £29.99 per month to have my landline scammed up to death.
Lastly if this keeps happening I will leave BT for this reason. BT seriously 😑 needs to stop these annoying calls coming through too me. I will leave and will NOT pay any cancellation fee because I most certainly DON'T have too put up with this **bleep**! ALL CUSTOMER'S HAVE A RIGHT TO LEAVE.

Solved! Go to Solution.
🤣
They are not real numbers - they are spoofed and probably come from another continent. Or:

Have you enabled BT Call Protect? it's a free service.
Other things you can do are register with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and buy yourself a call blocking phone .
We've done all the above and we still get the odd one or two but so few that it's become my entertainment now and I string them along with a load of rubbish until I get bored and then hangup, either that or I suddenly switch to German or French mid conversation and tell them I don't speak English.
Hello 👋 @Anonymous,
I've already got that enabled the BT Call Protect, it doesn't really do the job. I have already registered with TPS Service, if this doesn't stop I will leave for this reason and will not pay any cancellation fees because I don't need to.

This isn't a BT issue, it's every provider who offer a phone service, a script will dial numbers randomly until someone answers, the number you see ringing you isn't the real number, it's spoofed, once blocked they spoof another and so it continues.
TPS only stops legit companies, scammers in other countries don't care about TPS, they don't care about the law, so you opting out is ignored.
What will help is a call blocking phone, you can enter your friends, family and other safe numbers into the phone, anyone who rings gets straight through to you, anyone who isn't saved in the phone is intercepted, they are prompted to leave a message stating who they are, you can then choose to accept or decline the call.
BT will also offer you a free renumber if you're receiving nuisance calls but the scammers will soon call again, it's all done automatically.
The most effective way of dealing with such calls is a call-blocking phone such as the BT 4600.
No provider has the means to prevent all nuisance calls. How could they, given that the perpetrators make themselves untraceable? So the problem won't necessarily go away if you move, though you might benefit if it involves changing your number.
Hello @pottyperson, @-Richie-, @Anonymous, @gspearson, @pompey1898,
This has NOW been resolved. Please see the e-mail down below:
Dear ** ********, I'm really sorry to hear that you are receiving these nuisance calls. I appreciate how frustrating this must be. I tried calling you to discuss this with you but unfortunately was unsuccessful in reaching you. Hopefully you received my voicemail to let you know I'd called. While we can't control numbers calling you, we are trying to prevent these as much as possible with the introduction of services such as Call Protect. I've checked your account and we do have this registered for you. This means you can blacklist the number when you receive the call. When the numbers become known to us we will automatically add them to the BT blacklist. The challenge we face with this however, is once blocked they may move on to another number. If this is becoming a particular problem for you I can offer you a change of number free of charge if this would help. I understand this doesn't come without some inconvenience so you can let me know if you would like to go ahead with this. Your complaint will now close but if you have any questions or require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to come back to me return email. Alternatively you can call our office number on 0800 0113151. Kind regards Michelle Knox Digital Resolution Team BT Consumer |
So I've had a talk on the phone with BT Complaints & they told me what to do also taken in consideration what too do.
Thank you all 😊 👍!
