SPAM from BT Mail but user still on BT Yahoo

Today received SPAM from a friend sent to myself and others of his contacts.

The BT check web page says he is still on BT Yahoo, but the message was sent from a Critical Path server (BT Mail).

So before he is even migrated his details have been duplicated and compromised on Critical Path servers.

Is this what we can expect from the "NEW"  BT Mail which doesn't seem to be any improvement on the service from Yahoo??

(a)ALL mail comes via Critical Path servers regardless of being migrated or not.

(b) If he was hacked previously, the hackers have his address book and can use it at their will.

" as tranches of accounts are moved across piecemeal, from Yahoo servers to Openwave/ Critical Path/ BT servers and Yahoo servers were still being used and accessable untill all accounts are changed over" ...................

If on Yahoo, both servers are used. If migrated only CP/Openwave are used.
