Scam Alert: Service suspension warning

Hi Everyone,

Another scam we have come across is a situation whereby scammers are targeting BT customers with a fake email.

The email states that the price of your package is changing and that you need to verify your account details.  Failure to do so will result in the temporary suspension of your service.  The email will include a link to 'Continue to your account',  DO NOT click on this link!  If you come across this email scam please do the following

  • Forward the email to phishing@bt.com then delete it
  • If a suspicious link was clicked or attachment opened/downloaded then run a virus check on your computer
  • If bank details were given out then contact your bank immediately and change your online banking passwords
  • BT Web Protect is a free service that helps protect you from viruses, scams and phishing
  • BT Virus protect is free on BT broadband and gives protection against viruses, spyware, phishing scams and other internet threats

Here is the example of what this phishing email may look like,
