Hi all, I wonder if someone can help me please.
I have recently moved from Sky to BT and have BT Infinity through a HH5. I have set up the hub and everything works fine connecting to the internet and I have managed to connect various devices to it via wifi, having set up two different wireless networks on 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz to make the most of the speed. However I cannot get my Seagate 4.0 TB external hard drive to connect to any of the ethernet ports.
The lights on the back of the hard drive should be one solid green for connection and one fast flashing yellow for traffic, however they are one slow flashing amber for (lack of) connection and one fast flashing yellow. I have tried 3 different cat 5e cables with no success. As a result I cannot see the drive connected to the router when I log in to hub manager.
I have managed to connect my laptop to the hub by an ethernet cable and I could access the internet and the hub manager, so I know that the ethernet ports on the back of the hub work ok.
I also re-connected the hard drive back to my old sky router via an ethernet cable and connected my laptop to the sky router via another ethernet cable and I could access the drive ok, so I know that the hard drive is not faulty.
I'm unsure as to what else to try. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
when you split the networks did you also turn off smart setup
have you turned of smart setup
No I didn't turn off smart setup, I have just done so now and restarted the hub. I have also unplugged the hard drive and restarted this and reconnected it but this has not made any difference.
The ethernet connection light is still slow flashing amber and I still can't see the hard drive in the hub manager.
Should I have changed any other settings ?
Did you give the hard drive a static IP in a different subnet when it was connected to the Sky box?
I don't think so, but it was a few years ago, I think just connected the hard drive to the sky hub and it was recognised on my network as a drive ?
