Search function not very good?

Go to solution

I don't understand this: I have exchanged emails with a second cousin of mine and his wife in Spain a few times. But his emails cannot be found in my Inbox.  I found his emails and mine when I searched for his name in my Sent box. Can you explain why that should be so? Also when I use the advanced search box I can never find anything by searching for a word in the body of the email.

Also I have hovered over and clicked on their email address but I cannot get the + sign to appear so I can add it to my contacts list.  I could just type it in, obvs, but I should be able to do it the easy way.  Why can't I?  What am I doing wrong?

Hello,

I can’t offer advice on how this may be happening. However, adding the contact to your favourites/VIP contacts should highlight those emails for you.

Where do I find my favourites/VIP contacts list?

Can I stop BT putting replies to replies on top of the first email that comes into my inbox? They put a number next to it, but that's not much use if it has disappeared off the bottom of my screen. Sometimes I get a reply from a different person who has been copied in and I may want to reply to that person, but I don't see how I can when all the emails appear on one long strip.

I was able to see conversation view under "Change View" > Message Options.  But when I clicked on it, it didn't change. How can I tell if it is off or on? But thanks for replying to my question.

If "Conversation view" is turned on you will notice that all emails that you have been corresponding with using the "reply to" function will be listed together and there will be a number in a circle beside the email shown in the list of emails.

To switch "conversation view" on or off you can toggle between on/off by single clicking the "conversation view " button.

Thank you, Distinguished one! I have just googled "BT conversation view" to find out what it means. In the results I saw someone who had the same trouble as I did, though he used terms I didn't understand - like 'emails are threaded' - but he also found that it didn't change the appearance of the "conversation view" in the dialog box when he clicked on it, but it did change the appearance of the emails in the inbox. So I tried just clicking once, and the numbers disappeared, so I assumed that meant by emails were no longer on top of each other. Got there in the end!
