Like a number of other users who have posted here, I had a problem with SMS texts (mainly from BT's fault-repair system) being delivered as text-to-speech. To try and repair it, I tried the recommended methods from the landline SMS-enabled handset - sending "reset" or "register" to 00000, or just sending a text to another subscriber. None of these worked. 5 to 10 minutes after trying to send any message, I get a TTS reply from 00000 saying "There is a technical problem. Please try later". I have tried this on several occasions, so it doesn't seem a temporary thing.
It's hardly a serious problem, but I'd like to know if it's fixable. Is it just that BT Text is a poorly-supported legacy system they don't want us to use, or is there a genuine "technical problem" here?
I have Caller Display enabled.
I've experienced the same issue for months. Has BT switched off delivering SMS as text to landlines, without telling anyone? Or has The Last Person Who Knew How it Worked retired?
