Sequence when powering down router

My router is usually on all the time but when I'm away for some time I power down the router and remove the ADSL cable from the wall socket (ADSL v1.0 if it matters).

 

I seem to remember reading somewhere that it was better to do one of these before the other as that would help to give a better speed on return. I can't re,

There's no need to do either in reality. If you want to power the hub down there's no need to unplug the ADSL cable. Just turn it off at the wall
