Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

All I asked BT India was to do is check on my line to make sure there is no cap or restrictions which I reckon there is and also to do a DLM reset on my line due to power cuts!. They are now coming out with all sorts of excuses to me on the phone with one,  now saying you cannot do a DLM reset on an Infinity connection and another saying my line is not capped but I find that very hard to believe because when I reset my equipment it says everytime Max IP Profile 22.75MB Downstream the Upstream does seem to fluctuate up and down but the downstream no, it  just hits the 22.75MB band and will not go any higher which is why I think BT are capping my speeds. I am paying for up to 76/20 on Option 2 so I expect that not been restricting because my estimates say 18.1 and 2.90MB. I have seen many peeps on this thread complaining about there speeds been cut and I think BT are doing just that I cannot be certain and cannot prove this but I am god damm sure of it in my mind!!!. Can a mod please sort this out for me cause I am sick of trying to drill the same question and email over the phone to them. When I first had my Infinity installed 8 months ago it was running fine at a solid 26.7MB Down and 2.90MB Up but now its running like poop and I am not a happy customer at all I am even thinking about going with Sky over this or even worse contacting Watchdog, its not write what they are doing. So please I just want my connection back how it was before and not the fact BT want to hide behind some silly estimates all the time, if my line is capable of more then let it, I am paying for up to 76/20 not uo to 22.75MB Down and 2.90 Up. BT please read this and sort it out cause i am gettting very frustrated with the guys over the phone at BT India also to add to this, a BT OR enginneer told me if I wanted anything like I am asking doing again I just to ring BT or email and ask and it is very simple to do but they make such a song and dance about what I am requesting!!!.

Also I may add to this when the OR engineer came out and did a DLM reset and checked my line it was running perfect @ 26.9MB Down and 2.90 UP but then all of a sudden after about 20 days or so it suddenly over night went down to 23MB dead on which I find kind of very unusual after 20 days or so just as if it was capped over night!. I reset my equipment to see if it would go back up but no it would not go any higher than 23MB, which really you would see any fluctuation of anything over or under the 23MB doing a reset!.

Also to try to sort out something that is very simple BT India rang my house at approx 8.00a.m. this morning, they know what to do so why want to talk about it. Its very simple to do, no restricitons on the connection and a simple DLM reset that can be done in minutes by Openreach.

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

What was the estimate that you were given when you ordered Infinity?

If your estimate was under 38Mbps, which it appears to be, why did you order Infinity 2. You say that when it was first installed you were getting 26.7Mbps, this would only warrant being on Infinity 1 not Infinity 2.

Infinity 2 can deliver speeds upto 76Mbps but only if the line is capable of supporting those speeds.

What does this estimate you should get

Can you run the following speed checker and also the diagnostic and post back the results including the IP profile for up and down.

http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Also run the Glasnost tests which will show if your connection is being throttled

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

gg30340. Please buddy dont talk to me like I dont know what I am doing or on about, if you read what I have put then you should not need to write what you are thinking!. Do you honestly think in your mind that I dont know about the Diagnostic checks & Glasnost tests and Estimates!, please dont!!!, read what I have wrote down, I have mentioned about my estimates also my Max IP Proflie read outs and Glasnost, what the hell has that got to do with your output speeds, that is just a test for P2P restrictions on your line!. Get with it buddy your supposed to be an Infinity forum Guru! 😉

I am on option 2 because I wanted the Unlimited package and BT say the FTTC wont accept 76/20 for some reason to my line!. I have now done several resets on my router/HH4 and every time my Max IP Profile hits 22.75MB Down and they still say there is no capp on the line, which I dont beleive!!!. How can you go from a rock solid 26MB down to 22.75MB in a matter of weeks it seemed to happen when BT reduced the estimates when you put your phone number in. If I did a reset surely the speeds would fluctuate below that result and over the result, there is bound to be a slight margin but to hit the 22.75MB Max IP Proflile every time sticks in my opinion and tells me there is a cap in place on the connection!.

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

The 76/20 speed is strictly an "up to" speed and depends on the length and quality of your line back to the cabinet.  If you are too far from the cabinet, then you will never get that speed.  That's why it's important to get a speed estimate from BT before you order.  The price you pay is the one for the service you order, regardless of what speed you actually get.

You've quoted a lot of numbers at us.  So far as I can tell, you are getting more than the estimated speed.  The speed will tend to go up and down a bit.  Every time the connection drops for any reason, the modem and the cabinet will negotiate a new connection, and the speed may be a bit different.  If it gets set too high, then sooner or later the connection will drop, and it will re-connect at a slower speed.  That seems to be what's happening to you.

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

Id be upset at only getting BT infinity 1 speeds whilst paying for Bt Infinity 2 prices. However I do not see how you would notice the difference in performance of a 10% speed drop in download speed in real world applications. Other than that you can test it with various services. I reckon though you have a case against BT of mis selling. ie over selling you a package that they couldnt deliver, they ought to be charging you option 1 prices. As you say you could always move to Sky or at least threaten to when negotiating with BT for your refund.

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

I think it is you that needs to get with it "buddy". If you are happy to have ordered and be paying for Infinity 2 when all your line can support is Infinity 1 then yes I do honestly think that you don't know what you are talking about.

Just because you chose Infinity 2 to get the unlimited package does not mean you will get Infinity 2 speeds. That is why you should have done a check for the estimated speed before getting the Infinity 2 package. You could have gone for the unlimited Infinity 1 package which is all that your line would appear to support but hey what do I know you must know better after all you are a forum expert!

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

To try to stop this thread turning into a "I know more than you match" , the only real experts are the real life skilled ones, the tags on this and all forums are just given as incentives.

And Guru is a middle eastern name given to what we would call a person who uses tricks to bend spoons remotely, they are just tags and in the real world mean nothing.

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

Ok guys,

Lets keep it friendly.

@MBR123,

Can you try posting your speed test results, including further diagnostics, and we’ll take a look. Infinity profiles cannot be remotely reset and requires an engineer to do so.

Cheers

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

An engineer did visit along while back and fixed the line and did a DLM reset on my line a while ago, but all of a sudden out the blue 20 days later it hit 22.75MB Down and wont go any further no matter how many resets I do, that is what I am trying to say he told me if I needed it doing again due to power cuts in our area then I should ring/email BT and just ask then it should be done as easy as that, there is no need to send an OR engineer to do that all it takes is a simple call to OR and it can be done. I say there is a capp on my line, there is no way you can do about 7 resets on the router and everytime it hits up to 22.75MB Max IP Profile Downstream on a disagnostic test and goes no further, the Upload fluctuates on a reset but the Downstream does not. I'm sorry but if there is no cap on my line then I am the queens mother!!!. I pay for up to 76/20 so I exepct anything up to that speed I dont care about any estimates that are given if I pay for 76/20 then I expect to recieve anything up to that not capped becuase BT say my estimates are 18.1MB and 2.90MB Up. here are some imgs:-

Test taken before the engineer went last at what it should be:-

Test now by ethernet:-

18-Oct-13 5-15-38 PM.png

What a surprise just took this test random for you all and look it hits 22.54MB Down and the Upstream has gone up a bit to 2.23MB. I dont beleive after load of resets the line would not go past 22.54MB Down. I am telling you there is a cap on my line!!!. You dont go from a rock solid since install between 26 - 27MB Down to 22.54 - 22.75MB Down for about 10 months now in a matter of a few weeks and please dont say its over my estimate cause I pay for up to 76/20 not up to 22.54MB!. I would bet my life if BT did a reset on my line and took there ghost cap off I bet the speeds would rocket back up to how it should be!. Please if BT want to waste an OR engineer to come out and do something that takes 5 mins on a mobile then please do so cause that is what the last engineer said, if they dont listen get one sent out and he will do just what the last chap did. I'm sick of tring to tell the same story to BT, we get power cuts in our area it cannot be helped once you get several PC the connection goes really poor if there was a button on my HH to reset the line I would do just that instead of wasting my time trying to put over my issue!!!.

Please click on white star to the left and say thanks if I have helped you at all!. 🙂 Thank you. Some handy links Copy & Paste:-

Re: Sick of BT's constant lies!!!

Going by your IP profile it looks to me that you are on Infinity 1 and not Infinity 2 as you have been saying!
