Ah ha, that's NOT the latest one;)

 

Have a look here, the newer one is at the top, the older ones are lower down - http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=28&system=4

 

you need to know if your vista is 32bit or 64bit

(my guess it's the first one)

I am really acting dull now. how can I tell what bit my vista is.

   EDIT   found it 32 bit  before you answered imjolly thanks though

I'm OK with computers so long as everything is working.

go to my computer right click then properties   should say 32 or 64 bit operating system

Hi   John, imjolly and DS,

 

The only update I have is that I downloaded the new driver for the network card.  I then turned off the computer for half an

 

 hour,  re-booted wirelessly it took just over 1 minute to boot up and connect so I am Smiley Happy  now,  lets hope it continues.

 

Thank you all for your help. I really don't know which post to mark as solved so it will be pot luck.
