Slow Download Speed Or NONE

Well have been with BT Total Broadband for 10 days now and all I can say is that it’s Total *******!

Download speed was ok in first few days then got nothing at all, call to India and went through all the usual things in numerical order as it would appear from other posts on this forum. Reset the hub etc, etc, call ended with they would get an engineer to look at the problem at the exchange the following day. This it appears was done as the next day my speed was back up around 3000Kbps which was better than nothing, this lasted only a short time before speeds started to slow again, especially during evening. I accept that there is more demand during this period however for past two nights have only been getting 500Kbps yes Five hundred. When I enquired what speed I should get before jumping on board BT, I was advised after my line was checked it would be around 5000Kbps but could vary between 4000 & 6000Kbps. My previous IP I was getting around a steady 3500Kbps whatever time of day. Cannot watch any films on line in evening as it keep ‘buffering’, need to be getting at least 2000Kbps.

Any suggestions would be great, do not know what to do nest?, Below are some of the speed tests I did-

Re: Slow Download Speed Or NONE

it would help if  you can post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com and post the results .

Have you tried the quiet line test just to make sure line quiet? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Slow Download Speed Or NONE

no one during the day time is important to see if the problem is possibly exchange congestion

I also note you have only been a bt customer or 10 day according to your post i do not know if you are aware there is a 10 day line training period during which the exchange equipment finds your most stable connection it is important during that time that you leave the hub powered 24/7 and do not manually restart it just leave it for the exchange equipment to stabilise the connection you have a4.5mb connection that is for certain and your hub appears to have been connected for 6 days which is a good sign

Re: Slow Download Speed Or NONE

Below is the test for today - I also realise that it takes 10 days for things to settle down, my hub has never been turned off but has been reset once on the instructions form the India help centre. One thing I have noticed is that my IP address from the various tests I did changed every day to start with, until I made the call to India when I had no connection at all - since that date my IP address has stayed the same.

Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 3253 Kbps

0 Kbps7150 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3253 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :4672 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 4000 Kbps

Well getting towards evening and the speed is starting to slow again and this is day 11 and had the email from BT "You've been enjoying your BT Total Broadband for a while now. Even so, there are lots of excellent features crammed in, and you may not have discovered them all." well have not been enjoying the BT TOTAL ********** very much, -- another night I will not be able to watch films on line from my subscription to LF.
