Okay so i can guanutee that i wont be getting BT Infinity in my area for a along while. However my speeds are just painfully slow and i was tipped off on another thread that experts could help me on here 🙂
I use an Ethernet Connection on a Home Hub 3.0
Here's my BT speed test results
I've tried the test on here www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 5Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 3Mbps and 7.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1Mbps and downstream line speed of 5Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 3Mbps and 7.5Mbps."
My Exchange is BRIMSCOMBE
Here's a Bt Speedtester results
Test1 comprises of two tests
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download speedachieved during the test was - 5395 Kbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 305 Kbps
the btspeedtester results look ok - you have a 7.4mb connection with a profile of 6000 and if you can maintain a stable connection 24/7 this should rise to 6500. your download/throughput at 5395 looks ok for your profile of 6000
looks like the estimate you got at the start
and heres my ADSL stats
ADSL Line Status
Line state: Connected
Connection Time: 3 days, 03:09:48
Downstream: 7.313 Mbps
Upstream: 448 Kbps
Modulation: G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type: Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up): 9.0 dB / 27.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up): 40.4 dB / 22.0 dB
Output power (Down/Up): 19.9 dBm / 12.1 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up): 347557 / 20
CRC Events (Down/Up): 790 / 16
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
HEC Events (Down/Up): 25691 / 12
your exchange is 21CN enabled but there is no date so could be very recent and has not been rolled out to the customers on the exchange. have you had bt broadband for a while or recent?
check your attenuation here to see possible connection speed http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php
Ive had BT Broadband for over 6+ years now (im on BT total Broadband 3 )
the results of the test are:
Downstream : 40db
Line Length : 2.9 km
dslMAX : 6976 kbps
adsl2+ (21CN): 9024 kbps
adsl2+ (LLU) : 9024 kbps
IP Profile : 6000 kbps
IP Profile: 7150 kbps
Throughput : 7986 kbps
Did you read the small print at the bottom, there is a chance of increased attenuation between 2 and 3 is typical.
as already pointed out your attenuation will increase by 2 or 3db when upgraded to 21CN so neeed to look at 43 attenuation which makes a difference.
in addition 21CN is very aggressive on noise on your line so what may be a good connection on adslmax may not be a good connection on 21CN. Just search the forum for 'upgrade problems' to see what I mean
