Slow broadband and noisy phone

Hay all, have just moved into a new house and am getting really band up/download speeds (0.3Mbps Down/ 0.7Mbps Up (Wired)), it's actually quicker for me to use open zone now than my HH3 i'm sad to say. I'm struggling to even use internet radio right now.

 

I've been though all the recommended links etc from BT and did notice a very small speed increase by using the direct socket but that's about it. The thing is i've only moved a few 100 yards around the corner from my old address where I was able to steam non hd video with out a problem.

 

Anyone know of any problems in Longstanton area in Cambridge?

Oh and my phone is also really noisy, no idea why have tried wireless and wired

Report it as a phone fault, fixing the noisy line will also fix the broadband speed. Don't mention broadband when you report the fault.

if you connect to test socket can you dial 17070 option 2  should be quiet and best with corded phone  if cordless then dull hum normal

 

if you still hear noise then as already suggested report to 151 or use the link

Some premises in Longstanton are covered by BT's existing commercial roll-out plans, the remainder are covered by the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme where superfast broadband is forecast to be available between December 2014 and March 2015

Just some extra info. I have same problem. 0.5-1.5mbps speeds, and people always complaing they can barely hear me on the phone.

I think it's not a fault, but just terrible line quality in the whole area. Everyone gets bad speeds in Longstanton.

 

Unfortunately the connecting cambridgeshire plan has been delayed until April-June 2015..

 

I sympathise with your plight, as I too live in Longstanton, and pay the same price as everyone else but get a 20th the speeds.

Have you tried the quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 you should hear no noise if you can hear noise then it needs reporting to BT faults on 151 with no mention of broadband in the call
