Slow broadband on 2.4g

I have a fttp fiber 150 with inconsistent speed. Having gone into the hub settings and turned off 5g i have realised the 2.4g wifi only gives a speed of about 6mbps. This means as soon as i fall out of the 5g range my wifi is worse than my previous non fibre connection. Why is the 2.4g connection so slow

Congestion perhaps ? Try changing the 2.4ghz channel manually in the router to channel 1, if no good then keep trying the others

thanks will give it a go but does the smart setting not regularly update this to the best channel

Yeah it should do. Try 5ghz ?

5g runs fine the prob is when I move out of 5g range and rely on the 2.4
