Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

Hi,

I'm sad to say I'm relieved I'm not the only one connected to this useless exchange, but at the same time sad to see so many with the same problem.

Regarding BT Infinity, the SMALLBROOK exchange currently not scheduled to get BT Infinity - never mind in September 2011. Birmingham Central is a totally different exchange. See here - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/CMCEN. What's really irritating is that this exchange is just 0.9 MILES from the Smallbrook exchange. As you can see the Central exchange has whole sale LLU broadband already. Cablle already, and will have BT Infinity probably before we even have wholesale LLU broadband.

It's an utter disgrace.

Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

I just wished they'd be more honest than complacent with their s****y service. I've made an official complaint, and will see if it needs to be raised to ofcom eventually. So I doubt I'll ever see cable in my lifetime... Anyone got any further updates?

Has anyone seen speeds over 0.5 mbps during the peak hours?

Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

Recently the best speed I've been able to get is 915 kbps, however I retested this at 0037 i.e. off peak and the speed had dropped to 615 kbps.

My ISP had BT do a regrade of my account and for a few days I had constant 6500 kbps.

Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

Hi All,

I have to say that i've been using the internet most of today and seen an amazing increase in the speed.

Having done various tests throughout the day at different times I've constantly been getting around 4.2 - 5.1mb/s HOWEVER - It's now 16:30 and i've just run a speedtest and am only getting 920 kbps.

So i think they may be doing / have done something - But don't hold me to this!

Did anyone else get Direct messages on here from the moderators?

Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

Aint getting any speed increases just standard 0.5mbps, I live so close to the exchange as well 😞

However complaints said that some personal manager is going to keep me regularly updated and hopefully resolve the situation, yeh yeh yeh.

Another person said that the exchange will be fixed by Christmas hopefully, I'm not sure who to believe and I'm sure someone on the forum said its been pushed back till Feb 2099( and yes I'm exaggerating!)

Anyone else getting good news?

Re: Slow broadband on the Smallbrook exchange.

another speed test at 2347 last night returned 424 kbps, so slow that it generated the option to perform further tests.

BT publish their work schedule today it appears so I should have an update from my own ISP by Monday at the latest as to when the upgrade to the Smallbrook exchange will be made.

Thierry -

Birmingham Central is the name of another exchange - it's at the BT Tower.

Unfortunately I have been once again told that the fix date is February 2011; does anyone else have any other info?

I've noticed on my circuit, I get between 4 and 6mps in the morning then it gradually goes down to the speed I have around now. It doesn't get better until around 6am... This is better than before but it's still rubbish!

What has the 'help'desk said to other people recently?
