I am having a slow broadband, getting very slow download and time-out.
Have a look at my BT Hub 2's line status. This hub is connected to the main socket, no other sockets or extension as I have cut out the internal cable extension to the faceplate (to rule out any interference or any problem with internal cable).
It is still the same and it gets quite a lot of errors in the space of nearly 15 hours, is this not good?
|Connection time||0 days, 14:58:53|
|Noise margin (Down/Up)||15.8 dB / 7.0 dB|
|Line attenuation (Down/Up)||57.0 dB / 31.5 dB|
|Output power (Down/Up)||17.3 dBm / 12.4 dBm|
|Loss of Framing (Local)||0|
|Loss of Signal (Local)||0|
|Loss of Power (Local)||0|
|FEC Errors (Down/Up)||116739 / 0|
|CRC Errors (Down/Up)||22 / N/A|
|HEC Errors (Down/Up)||N/A / 0|
|Error Seconds (Local)||12|

the FEC errors are nbot a problem as that is interleaving doing it's job your noise margin is very high at 15db suggesting either line noise os many resets or both. you need to remain conencted 24/7 for 3+ days and then repost your stats with the 3 days connection time and mods will help reduce your noise margin back to 6db which will increase your connection speed
try quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should be quiet and best with corded phone if cordless then dull hum normal
Ok the line margin is always around 15db for years, I don't think I have ever seen it going much below 15. Let alone 6db.
I leave hub on 24/7 all the time but it did not make any difference over the days, weeks or months or even years.
My home is 3.6 km from the exchange (3 km straightline) but can BT reset it?
you cannot change the distance from the exchange but the normal noise margin is about 6db which gives the estimated speed. you need to show a stable connection for 3+ days before mods will help by resetting your noise margin back to 6db.
I would do that but I'm profoundly deaf. My mum's an elderly lady so she does not hear well.
Anyway, I will post back after 3 days but sometimes it reset the statistics after dropping out so I wouldn't hold my hope for it.
still repost your stats when you get 3+ days connection time and mods will help
Still the same...

I have to point it out that I do check the line status from time to time over the years and I do not recall seeing the noise margin much lower than 15db.
