Am looking for someone to help me, For months now ive been phoning BT for answers but have got no where. When I do a speed test on the BT website it says i should be getting between 8- 12 mpbs. This is my IP address
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2.59 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2.71 Mbps
Someone i work with lives half a mile away from me and is on the same exchange and is getting 10-12 mpbs. Can anyone help please?

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1)
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
Ive done a quiet line test and i hear a slight tick every second. The main socket in my house is the older master socket. here is the adsl stats and the current speed tester result.
can you go back to stats page and 'show detail' and post the error stats please
|FEC Errors (Down/Up)||0 / 0|
|CRC Errors (Down/Up)||18428 / 0|
|HEC Errors (Down/Up)||28561 / 0|
|Error Seconds (Local/Remote)||5357 / 0|
Those errors are high and suggest noise problems they will also cause a slow down you're connection speed due to the resending of data packets
