Slow download, questions about BT Wholesale speed tester.

Hello All,

I'm a new BT Infinity 2 customer, new line and socket installed about 6 weeks ago, all good up to now with a consistent 51mb download and 12ms ping (minimum is service 49mb).

Today I have mid 20mb and 28ms ping.

I have gone through the online checker (test socket, connect via ethernet etc) and now have an engineer booked for next week.

Whats confusing me is that part of the process is to test the BB speed using www.speedtest.btwholesale.com. When I did this and ran the diagnostics (where you enter your phone number to get more details) it reported my max acceptable download speed was only 31mbs.....is this the problem, has my service been downgraded somehow or is this checker itself unreliable?

Any thoughts welcomed 🙂

Re: Slow download, questions about BT Wholesale speed tester.

Thanks for the reply, I should also have said that even though I'm still getting mid 20's mbs browsing is very slow and web pages are timing out with 'no internet' even though I'm still connected with internet

Re: Slow download, questions about BT Wholesale speed tester.

That did not post very well, sorry. Is it clear enough? I also had to connect to a tethered 4g connection on my phone as I'm getting almost constant time outs from a variety of web pages.

Re: Slow download, questions about BT Wholesale speed tester.

I think that might be the speed from the available speed check? I connected via ethernet for the bt wholesale speed check and got 29mb.

Data rate:
20.00 kbps / 62.30 kbps

That's a display error. Your connected at 62.3mbps.

Can you run the further diagnostics test on the wholesale site using an Ethernet cable and post up a screenshot of the results please.

Re: Slow download, questions about BT Wholesale speed tester.

Right, done on wired connection. One minute your able to browse, then 'err connection timed out' etc even though hardware shows as connected.

First screen shot is worst its been 😞
