Hi all / BT Mods
So I moved from Sky Fibre to BT Infinity 1 last month. Since moving, I have noticed that web pages seem to be much slower to repsond when loading. I have tried both BT's default DNS servers and switching to Google's DNS no difference, maybe a little quicker with Google.
I've also noticed my evening speeds seem to plummet, tonight is particularly bad it also makes online gaming unplayable. Pings spiking to 300ms. I setup a TBB ping monitor and did some speed tests on both speedtest.net and BT's official wholesale tester.
I have been using the standard Hub 6 supplied, plus tried my own TP-Link VR900 and it's the same either way. It does seem to be network congestion / VLAN issue at the exchange I seem to be reading every where else.
I loathe to ring up and speak to the 1st line chaps, who in the nicest way will waste my time running the usual which I have already done. So wonder if a mod can take a look for me or if I drop a PM?

EDIT: And here is a speed test result when it's not congested!
Cheers

Welcome to this forum.
Can you please provide BT Wholesale speed test results for different times of the day?
Thanks
Going by your IP Profile still showing 53Mbps it would appear that you have answered your own question when you said "It does seem to be network congestion / VLAN issue at the exchange I seem to be reading every where else."
There is not a lot if anything you can do about it other than wait for BT to resolve it.
@Keith_Beddoe will try when I get chance, but I think my initial results prove the point. Also added a speed test result from another day in the afternoon.
@gg30340 I know I have, but I need to prove my case to BT for them to understand my issue do I not? Hence the post. 😛
If you carry out the speed tests on the speed tester as suggested by Keith this will record the issue and BT should act upon it.
Will do chaps thanks. Hopefully someone at BT will come along and check this out for me too!
Does this actually log the results with BT on their system for me? I notice when I do the speed test, then go to further diagnostics for the line profile etc it asks for my land line number... So wonder if it logs it actually on my account? So if I did ever ring up they have the data.
Or is that too clever for BT? 😛
I am not sure of the inner workings of BT but I suspect that would be too clever to link to your account.
I believe that when you run the tests it records with BTWholesale, who are responsible for upgrading if there is congestion and as such it makes BT Wholesale aware of the problem.
Starting to see random websites not loading intermittently. The BT.com site wouldn't even load a few minutes ago, just timed out after a few seconds. Other sites worked ok. Tried a few times and it was only 5 mins later it loaded up... Wonder if that's a separate MTU related issue though, or severe packet loss.
I'm currently 1. on hold to BT, queued for over 10 mins now not got through yet and 2. on live chat with Pooja asking me to tell them the lights, wired/wireless etc... Sigh 😞
So after 15 minutes I got through to BT. The lady did her usual stuff, did a remote line check and 'confirmed there is a fault within the network'. So has raised this with the network fault specialist team, for a call back on Wednesday after 3pm.
Now to wait and hope! 😞
