My neighbour has suffered from low and variable speed for a while. He was eventually advised that there was a fault on the line. Openreach have been out today and fixed the fault but his speed is still lower than expected. They have run tests and told him that this is because every time he logs on to the internet he accesses a server in California. Can this be true and, if so, how can he overcome the problem please ?
His ISP is AOL. Before you say this is a BT ONLY help forum it was only a general question as to whether an internet log in always goes to the same destination.
He is at loggerheads with AOL as his speed highly variable and frequently slow and has 4 days to make up his mind whether to stay with them or switch to BT. However, he does not want to jump ship only t find the grass is no greener on the other side (excuse the metaphors, if that's what they are called - LOL)
