I should be getting around 6mbps download but every day between about 5pm and 10pm its down to 1.88 mbps. It has been like this for the past few weeks now. Is this going to be fixed soon or am i going to find a new ISP? I've been on BT for a few years and not had one single problem.

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

your connection time is only 8Hrs is that due to a manual reset or the router dropping connection?
what about where you are connected - master or test?

I heard some people on virgin also had slow speeds because of exchange congestion but theirs seems to be fine now. If that is the problem is there nothing i can do about that?
the btspeedtester results look ok. another set tomorrow at say about 6/7pm or when you think download speed slow would help. at present it does not look like congestion
So my internet should be fine judging by the results of btspeedtester? I'm still getting 150+ ping to game servers.
yes the results from btspeedtester look just as you would expect for profile and download speed
