Slow upload speeds.

Go to solution

Morning,

My Broadband is working fine apart from very slow upload speed. Testing at speed test sites (including  bt wholesale) it seems to be running at 0.12 or there abouts. It only used to be about 0.40 not much better but in reality so much faster than it is now. Phone line is fine, Download speed is just fine, normal connection is fine but i get booted of youtube and such when uploading because its so slow. Been like this for just over a week. At one point it did rise back up to its normal level, but that didnt last long.

Any Ideas?? I haven't done anything yet, and as you'll see upload is listed at 0.44 but im just not seeing that in reality. I upload a fair bit to sites, (video and monthly radio shows etc...) and i'm having trouble now with this. Would be glad of any help on this.

Thank you.

Mark.

Oh, I see im showing abit of noise on the upstream compared to downstream. Just reset the router maybe ??? or is that likely to make it worse.

448 is as fast as you get on adslmax can you run btspeedtester and when first test completes can you run diagnostics and post results

btspeedtester

Thanks for the reply...

Again shows 0.45, but before going through to diagnostics it showed 0.16 as the upload speed.

That test was wireless, wired is the same results. Tested wired this morning, hub stats I posted were wired.

Everything is fine just my upload speed has dropped by half or three quarters in the last couple of weeks, on both machines, wired and wireless.

the speed test unfortunately shows no problems there is little that can be done as 448k up is the max for ADSL MAX

Re: Slow upload speeds.

Ok thanks for your time and advice.

It seems strange that that my upload speed has dropped recently, my speeds used to be just fine and stable for quite a while now. I'm almost at the point of not trying to upload anything because i get dropped or it takes for ever even on small files. I might just try and restart the router at some point. I also have a brand new one in the cupboard, maybe i'll try that too.

Funnily enough, i ran a speed test on my phone (htc One) via wifi and my router, and that came out at 0.43 which is what both my pc and laptop used to show??? even though all three are using the same router. I don't know, somethings not right.

But thanks again, Ratings left for all helpers.

try to avoid to many restarts of the hub as it can cause the exchange equipment to see the line as unstable and reduce your speed to stabilise the line

Re: Slow upload speeds.

Well, a simple hub reset did the trick. Pressed the reset button, made a coffee and went back to laptop and uploaded.

No hicups either, so all is well..

Managed to get stuff uploaded this morning. At first it was hopeless, wouldn't even start an upload to several sites i tried.
