I have just upgraded from a HH3 where my WD 1 TB drive worked without a problem. It was mapped as drive Z. It appeared on my network through the HH3 as usb2(\\Bthub3) (Z:).
On the HH6 it shows 1 device in USB, but there's no way of getting to it from my network. Lets hope for a solution soon.
It seems the Smart Hub is using a different method of authentication than the previous Home Hubs (Share-level authentication rather than User level) and this is possibly why the drives are not visible.
As a workaround, on Windows 10 at least, the USB disks seem to work OK when mapped from the command prompt. For example:
C:\Users\smf22>net view \\192.168.1.249 Shared resources at \\192.168.1.249 bthub Sharing Files Share name Type Used as Comment ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hitachi1TB Disk Share Hitachi1TB directory The command completed successfully.
Note: I'm not using the Smart Hub as my router currently and so I've assigned it the IP address 192.168.1.249.
Now I know what the "share" name is i.e., Hitachi1TB, I can connect the disk as some drive letter, in my case drive h:
C:\Users\smf22>net use h: \\192.168.1.249\Hitachi1TB The command completed successfully.
And then I can see it in Windows File Explorer and from the command prompt
C:\Users\smf22>dir h: Volume in drive H is Hitachi1TB Volume Serial Number is 04A2-DBB3 Directory of H:\ 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> . 01/01/2013 20:27 <DIR> .. 01/01/2013 01:04 <DIR> dir1 01/01/2013 01:05 <DIR> dir2 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> home [snip]
5 File(s) 28,974,804 bytes 6 Dir(s) 999,957,737,472 bytes free
And to the earlier point that NTFS is not supported as "the firmware lacks support for NTFS like every previous hub", that statement is incorrect.
Here's the same drive connected to a Home Hub 5A:
C:\Users\smf22>net view \\192.168.1.253 Shared resources at \\192.168.1.253 BT Home Hub 5.0A File Server Share name Type Used as Comment ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- USB6 Disk (Rev: 8105) The command completed successfully. C:\Users\smf22>dir \\192.168.1.253\usb6 Volume in drive \\192.168.1.253\usb6 is USB6 Volume Serial Number is 0202-004B Directory of \\192.168.1.253\usb6 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> . 09/10/2015 02:31 <DIR> .. 01/01/2013 01:04 <DIR> dir1 01/01/2013 01:05 <DIR> dir2 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> home [snip] 5 File(s) 28,974,804 bytes 6 Dir(s) 999,957,737,472 bytes free
And again connected to a Home Hub 5B:
C:\Users\smf22>net view \\192.168.1.254 Shared resources at \\192.168.1.254 BT Home Hub 5.0B File Server Share name Type Used as Comment ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- usb1 Disk created by auto-share The command completed successfully. C:\Users\smf22>dir \\192.168.1.254\usb1 Volume in drive \\192.168.1.254\usb1 is usb1 Volume Serial Number is 0202-0093 Directory of \\192.168.1.254\usb1 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> . 03/08/2016 11:28 <DIR> .. 01/01/2013 01:04 <DIR> dir1 01/01/2013 01:05 <DIR> dir2 09/10/2015 02:22 <DIR> home [snip] 5 File(s) 28,974,804 bytes 6 Dir(s) 999,957,737,472 bytes free

Hi Laticsmon,
I can't find your post.
As mentioned above the drive I was using on the USB on the HH3 appeared as USB2(Bthub3)(z:) on my network. I still can't find it connected to the HH6. The drive is my main backup so I have to point several programs to it. Any help would be much appreciated. I am trying from a Windowes 7 laptop and a Windows 10 laptop.
Update.
I have found the drive!
I connected it directly to my laptop and realised that it was named MUSIC. This name never appeared when it was connected to the HH3. I can now backup to it at \\192.168.1.254\MUSIC. Sorry for being so stupid....it's goes along with grey hair.
Quick update on this. So even though there's a workaround to find and map the drive, after a few days it stops responding.
C:\Users\smf22>net use New connections will be remembered. Status Local Remote Network ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- H: \\192.168.1.249\Hitachi1TB Microsoft Windows Network OK N: \\nas\smf22 Microsoft Windows Network OK V: \\nas\vmstore Microsoft Windows Network The command completed successfully. C:\Users\smf22>dir h: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Delete and try to re-map the disk.
C:\Users\smf22>net use /d h: h: was deleted successfully. C:\Users\smf22>net use h: \\192.168.1.249\Hitachi1TB System error 8 has occurred. Not enough storage is available to process this command.
To get it working again I needed to restart the hub. I should add this is running firmware version SG4B100021D0, which I realise isn't the current latest version, but I'm not connecting this thing to my Broadband to get it an update.

I have just received my BT Smart Hubready for my service to go live tomorrow, so I thought that I would familiarise myself with the settings and in particular a USB stick.
To my surpsise though, when I looked at the USB port in devices it returned \\api\Disque_partage
To add to that there is text that reads:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
Aenean euismod bibendum laoreet. Proin gravida dolor sit amet lacus accumsan et viverra justo commodo. Proin sodales pulvinar tempor.
**bleep** sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Nam fermentum, nulla luctus pharetra vulputate, felis tellus mollis orci, sed rhoncus sapien nunc eget odio.
None of what looks like latin can be recognised by Google translate, so wondered what is going on.
I can recognise that Disque_partage is French for shared disk but I am left wondering whether somebody at BT is having a laugh.
