You can use the smart hub with the BT Whole Home system.
It uses either Ethernet or wireless from the smart hub, for the backhaul connection.
Thanks, but why doesn't the Smart Hub work with Google WiFi?
Its not advisable to use it just as a wireless acces point.
But still doesn't explain what's different about BT Whole Hub that makes it possible to use with a Smart Hub and why Google WiFi can't...
Totally different systems. Google Wifi is designed to be have an Internet address from a modem, or a router in bridge mode. (Internet address range)
Whole Home Wifi is designed to work with a local LAN IP address (private address range)
Ah ok, thank you :).
And its good reliable?
I suggest you read what people have said on this forum, before making any decision.
If its just one or two areas of the house which have poor wifi, then a BT Hotspot 600 kit is a cheaper solution and works well.
I’m considering my options as I have a smart hub with poor WiFi connectivity in one room in particular.
as it doesn’t seem like another manufacturer mesh solution will be compatible with the smart hub and I am tied to a contract until next year, I wonder whether BT whole home could be an option.
what did you do and would you recommend?
