Smarthub flashing purple light of doom?

Hello all!

After months of use my smarthub suddenly decided to start flashing purple light at me. Confused I decided to go through the usual checks, cables, turn off for 5 mins and unplug and replug in. Nothing. Just purple disco. Went through all the lovely fault checks online to the point of booking a engineer. Booked for my day off but never received a confirmation. Waited on the day.....nothing. contacted bt, confirmed my engineer visit had been moved a week. Apparently by me! Maybe my eye sight has gone funky. Anyway point is why in the blue hell am I suddenly getting this purple light? I hear it's because I'm disconnected at the local cache?? Why?! Plus why are we expected to pay for a service we don't get too!?

Welcome to this user forum.

Is there any noise on your phone calls? Dial 17070 and select option 2, there should be no noise between the announcements.

Unfortunately these images don't load on my mobile phone version of this forum. But my socket is openreach mk3 with the broadband cable going in the top socket with phone going in the bottom

Re: Smarthub flashing purple light of doom?

So you have the home hub plugged into the top one, as it should be?

The master socket could be faulty. Do you have a microfilter available, if so, can you remove the bottom part of that master socket, and plug a microfilter int the test socket, and the home hub into the microfilter?
