Just bought a new house and ordered FTTC over the phone, got BT to confirm many times that it would be FTTC not FTTP.
Received my hub in the post today, spoke to the BT team by chat and phone and... turns out it was FTTP after all.
They say an engineer has already visited to do work external to the property and another second visit is scheduled. Can anyone explain what work would have happened during the first visit please? No one working for BT had any idea. The reason I need to know is my house is a Listed Building... FTTP is not allowed. Any cables run underground in preparation are not allowed. Even ordering FTTP can be an offence. I am worried the first engineer started some prohibited work, maybe laying cables underground up to the property? Our next door neighbours have FTTP.
They can run FTTP using overhead cables via the regular pole network up to the property
Thanks for the taking the time to reply. BT have said my property is only accessible by underground cables, so thankfully I don’t think they have run anything overhead 👍🏻
If your property is only accessable by underground are you sure the ducting isn't already there?
Who said FTTP isn’t allowed to be put in a Listed Building?
I’ve put FTTP in at least 2 dozen Grade 2 Listed Buildings and a few Grade 1 Listed Buildings, one of which was a very big and very old Castle.
Quite simply as well if FTTP is available then that's all that's available to order they won't be able to give you FTTC
